Dior

The Haussmann architecture and mansard roofs…feels great to be back in Paris. Though certainly moving from the summer heat of Rome to the fall temperatures of Ile-de-France.

Still plenty of work happening post fire at Notre Dame.

Starting the day with rain and cold…but I had tickets to the Galerie Dior. Christian Dior is iconic in the world of fashion and one of the best known French luxury brands. It will come as a surprise to no one that I am not a fashionista, but I was really impressed by the museum. Very much turning clothing into an art gallery.

Starting with one of the most amazing staircases I have seen.

It also turns out that while I was exploring the Galerie the wind came through and blew away the clouds and rain.

Equally great displays in the Louis Vuitton windows down the street.

Next up was the Petit Palais – an old palace turned art gallery. As I understand it, since it is owned by the city it’s free.

Two different galleries – both for shopping rather than art. Starting with Gallerie Vivienne a covered set of shops dating back to 1826. Continuing on exploring the grandeur of Turin. While I won’t get to all 14 of the residences from the Royal house of Savoy in the area, I did make out to one of the more opulent palaces and gardens. It was a short train ride away from Porta Susa, the train station I find I…
